Hey There

Here at Jack Haddon’s Florist, we care deeply about the environment and the impact our work has on the world around us. As a business rooted in nature, we recognise our responsibility to operate thoughtfully and sustainably. We are continually working to reduce our environmental footprint and make conscious choices in the way we source, design and deliver our flowers. Below you can read our Sustainability Policy and Carbon Reduction Plan, which outline our ongoing commitments and future goals.

**Policy Reviewed:** May 2025
**Next Review Due:** May 2026

Our Commitment

At Jack Haddon Florist, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability in all areas of our business. As a wedding florist rooted in the English countryside, we recognise the importance of protecting the natural world that inspires our work.

We aim to operate responsibly, ethically, and with care for future generations, aligning our practices with the UK Government’s Net Zero targets.

Key Principles

• Environmental Responsibility – We strive to reduce our carbon footprint through conscious decisions about our products, suppliers, transport, energy use, and waste management.

• Sustainable Sourcing – We prioritise British-grown, seasonal flowers and foliage. Where imports are necessary, we favour suppliers with strong sustainability credentials.

• Waste Reduction – We actively reduce waste by avoiding floral foam where possible, reusing materials, and composting green waste.

• Energy Efficiency – We minimise energy use in our workshop by using LED lighting, renewable energy providers, and efficient systems.

• Circular Economy – Our hire range encourages reuse, and we offer low-waste floral options such as dried or potted arrangements.

• Client and Supplier Engagement – We work with like-minded venues and suppliers and educate clients about sustainable floral options.

Our Practices

Flowers and Foliage:

• 50%+ UK-grown flowers during peak seasons

• Sourced as locally and seasonally as possible

• Preference for certified sustainable growers (e.g. LEAF)

Design Techniques:

• Foam-free arrangements using chicken wire and moss

• Reusable structures for installations

Packaging and Transport:

• Plastic-free wrapping and recyclable materials

• Delivery routes planned to minimise mileage

• Exploring electric vehicle options for future transport

Waste and Energy:

• Composting all organic waste

• Recycling packaging and materials

• Powered by a renewable energy provider

• All lighting upgraded to LED

Staff and Training

All staff are trained in sustainable floristry methods. We promote environmental awareness within our team and support personal responsibility for eco-conscious behaviour at work.
